This steel sign will arrive as it comes off the machine, giving it an industrial look. The sign is cut from a sheet of steel, and these steel sheets from the manufacturer naturally come with irregular scratches and inconsistencies. The ornament is crafted from 16-gauge hot-rolled mild steel, featuring a thin layer of black oxide (magnetite) that gives it a dark gray/bluish tint.

This oxide layer offers some protection against corrosion, but exposure to moisture and humidity can create a beautiful patina of rust. If you prefer the ornament without rust, you can polish it with grade #3 coarse steel wool to remove any or all rust.
